A bedroom for better sleep

Cool, dark and quiet.

5 min read

Your bedroom can help or hurt your sleep. The basics are a cool, dark, quiet room used mostly for rest.

The basics

  • Keep it cool, dark and quiet
  • Use the bed for sleep, not work
  • Keep a regular bedtime and wake time, even on weekends
  • Keep screens out, or at least off, near bedtime
  • Make the room calm: less clutter, soft light

The CDC says adults need 7 or more hours of sleep a night. If you often have trouble sleeping, talk with your doctor. The Good Nesting isn't paid by any mattress or bedding brand.
